That was really interesting. I hope that they can work some of the original LOTR actors into the new movies.

I found that very interesting, too. (I also completely agree with the comment about Johnny and Orlando sharing a father-son scene. ) Overall, I think they did a fairly good job of picking possible actors. But I can only go by looks, because I know absolutely nothing about most of them. I hope they have some original LOTR actors, too. Especially Orlando, because, besides the fact that I adore him, I think that it might help the audience relate the Hobbit to LOTR a little more if Legolas was included. Finally, Andy Serkis is most definitely the obvious choice for Gollum. I'm gonna sue if he doesn't get cast.

Personally, my choices out of the ones provided on TORn are-- Bard: Gerard Butler, although Daniel Day-Lewis might do if he "got scruffy" as Katie put it Thranduil: Ralph Fiennes, but I am a bit biased to Johnny Depp. Just a few weeks a go, I said that Depp could pass as OB's daddy. Of course, blue contacts are a must to hide that half-wicked, half-troublemaking look in his eyes and to make him seem like Leggy's daddy -- and to make him seem less like a certain pirate lord... Bilbo Baggins: Shia LeBeouf, just because I think he looks the most like Ian Holm. Of course my FIRST choice would be Mr. Holm, but Shia would do, although my first thought was his role in Surf's Up (he was in that, right?) as that weird chicken-thing But overall here's who I have thought of as choices-- Gandalf: Ian McKellen Gollum: Andy Serkis Smaug: Maybe Christopher Lee? Maybe his voice is too recognizable Bard: Someone like Viggo Mortenson, Gerard Butler, or the guy who plays Orieus in Chronicles of Narnia Thranduil: Ralph Fiennes, Orlando Bloom! [honestly, I don't know if he could get away with that... maybe he'll have to stick to being there but not being significant] Beorn: John Rhys-Davies Bilbo: Ian Holm, Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd... *whistles* j/k about the second two there , like I said, Shia LeBeouf if they can't get IH Dwarves: Geoffrey Rush The Master: Nicolas Cage -- don't ask me why What do you think? I'm going to put SL and IH side-by-side to see if that would work. And RF beside OB too. I've already seen JD beside OB and like I said, they could probably pass as father/son.

Pretty much the same for me. Although I'm not sure about Johnny...I really like him, but he doesn't seem Elfy enough. I guess he probably could pull it off, but...I don't know; I think just because I've seen him as Jack, and Jack's about as un-Elfy as you can get. I thought about having Orlando as Thranduil, too, but I'm not sure he could pull it off. Acting-wise, I know he could. Just because he already was Legolas, it might me a little confusing, and just wouldn't really seem right. It'd be really cool if he was, though.

Shia LeBeouf was in Surf's Up, but he was the penguin, not the chicken. Have you seen "Holes", or "Transformers"? He was the lead kid in both of those movies. Personally, I don't think he is that good looking. But I guess he just isn't my type. : )

I didn't say he was good-looking (to me, he's not bad-looking, but he's certainly not very cute) . No, I've not seen any movies with him. But I still think he looks like a young Ian Holm.

Same here. He's not cute, but not ugly. I don't think I've seen any movies with him...I've seen bits and pieces of Holes, but...I wouldn't recognize him if I saw him. He does look a bit like a younger Ian Holm, though. I'm a little confused though--how old is he? In the picture he looked at least 20-something, but you said he was the lead kid. I don't get it.

Oh. Okay.
I didn't know they were still making those. Then again, I no absolutely nothing about them other than what you've told me.

They're just making one more because Harrison Ford can still pull it off (how does he manage to look so young?).

There are three original ones. I've never seen the second one. Just the first and the last. They are REALLY good. I love them. (Of course I've loved Harrison Ford ever since I saw Han Solo in Star Wars.)

I've seen the 4th Star Wars episode...and bits of episode 1 and 2... Otherwise I've seen none of his movies.
