No, apparently not. Not surprising, though. *rolls eyes*

*sigh* That's a bit depressing. You know, if you don't dress a certain way, talk a certain way, like certain things, act a certain way, you're usually excluded from at least ONE group of people. Can't we intermingle with ALL of them?

Go 'Lij! Okay, I think for the most part, it sounds like it'll go fine (once they can actually start ). Although, I mus admit, as much as I love Elijah, I'm not sure how well his playing Bilbo would work out. I don't doubt that he could pull it off, I'm just a little uncertain first, because Ian Holm is already the person who comes to mind when Bilbo is mentioned (not to mention his appearance, if breif, in LOTR as the younger Bilbo), and second, because Elijah has already been a major character in LOTR, so it might not seem quite right for him to play the main character in The Hobbit as well. I don't know, maybe I'm just being critical. But I felt the same with Viggo Mortenson. I think he could be an excellent Bard, but we've already seen him as Aragorn, so I'm not sure how playing another major role would work out. And I als have to admit that, although I had considered the possibility before, the prospect of Christopher Lee (but I don't remember Saruman being involved...was there another option?)or even Ian McKellan passing away before they could be filmed. Ian is such a trademark, not to mention very good, Gandalf that the movie might not seem right with another actor, however good, cast in his place. Cate Blanchett, I'm honestly not sure how they would be able to work her in. Orlando Bloom, though his character does not appear in the book version of the story, I think should most definitely make an appearance in the film, and more than just a cameo. I think he should be given an actual role. It doesn't have to be big, but I think he should. True, some of this is just bias toward the actor as well as the character, but as I've said before, I think Legolas' presence might help the audience see more of the connection between LOTR and The Hobbit, as well as define a little more who Thranduil is, and Mirkwood some recognition, so it doesn't seem so foreign, not having appeared in LOTR.

Pretty much agree. I really do. I like Viggo as a Bard character but he was already Aragorn, so that's all he'll ever be to me.

I actually think John Rhys-Davies could make a good Beorn.

Yes, but I definitely say he cannot be a Dwarf again. He'd have to be someone else. That's actually who I had him to play in my mind.

This is true. I don't know how crazy he'd be about that. Beorn would be cg as a bear but he really wouldn't have to do much as a person.

Yeah, pretty much just walking around or having a conversation... I've actually heard rumors that they were thinking of cutting out Beorn. I don't know if they're true or not, but after the way the cut out Tom Bombadil, I suppose it wouldn't be all that surprising.

They cannot cut out Beorn because he plays a major role in the battle there at the end. I'll be very upset if they decide to drop him. Tom Bombadil was kind of just an additional character and although I liked him and enjoyed his personality, you don't really miss him in the movies.

Yes, that's true. I don't really think they will cut Beorn, but who knows?

I hope not. I just read some things that New Line joined with MGM (I think) and that The Hobbit won't be released until 2011 and 2012.

No kidding. I'm about ready to murder anyone who dares mess with New Line, Peter Jackson, or ANYBODY involved with The Hobbit right now.
